Franco M. Muggia, MD

Franco M. Muggia, MD - Key Note Speaker Pink & Teal 2021

Franco M. Muggia, MD, is the Anne Murnick Cogan and David H. Cogan Professor of Oncology, the director of the division of medical oncology, and the associate director for clinical research at the New York University School of Medicine.  He is the director of the Kaplan Comprehensive Cancer Center and of the breast cancer research program, as well as the director of the division of medical oncology at NYU Medical Center.

An internationally recognized expert and innovator in the early clinical development of novel anticancer compounds, Muggia is a strong advocate for, and is actively engaged in, performing correlative laboratory studies using patient-derived samples to assist in elucidating the mechanisms of action of these novel agents and to guide the development of future clinical trials.

Muggia, who is board certified in internal medicine, oncology, and hematology, is also the editor of the Spanish edition of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and leads the adult treatment editorial board for the NCI's PDQ (Physician Data Query) comprehensive cancer database.

Francis P Arena

Francis P. Arena, MD, FACP - Co-Chair Pink & Teal 2021

Francis P. Arena, MD, FACP is the director of one of New York’s largest oncology practice groups, The NYU Langone Arena Oncology Center, located in Lake Success, NY. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at New York University and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cornell University Medical College.

Dr. Arena received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Fordham University and his Medical Degree from Cornell University Medical College. His internship and residency were carried out at New York Hospital/Memorial Hospital, after which Dr. Arena served as Chief Medical Resident and later as Hematology/Oncology Fellow at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Medical Oncology.

Because of his keen interest in cancer research and preventative cancer care, Dr. Arena helped establish and is the president of the SASS Foundation for Medical Research, which supports medical fellows at a number of hospitals. He is on the Advisory Board of "1 in 9", the Breast Cancer Coalition, and serves as a consultant for numerous pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Arena is widely published and has lectured extensively in his field. He is an Assistant Editor of the journal Oncology and previously on the Editorial Board of the Community Oncology journal. Dr. Arena has been the recipient of multiple awards and citations for his work in oncology and breast cancer. Some of these awards include the David award given by Networking magazine, The Eilleen Dryer Award by the Sass Foundation, the Il Leone de San Marco award in medicine by the Italian -American league of Westchester and the Bronx and has been cited in repeated years as one of the top oncologists in the New York Metropolitan area by the Castle Connelly magazines and Newsday. Frank lives with his wife and wonderful children in Long Island, NY.

Dr. Arena was the co-producer of the Bermuda Pink Conference Cancer On Breast Cancer and was solely responsible for assembling the expert panel of doctors from NYU Langone, Weill Cornell, Sloan Kettering, North Shore LIJ and Harvard Medical.  He received the prestigious Bermuda International Citizenship Award for his moderating and production of the conference.

Maria Theodoulou, M.D

Maria Theodoulou, M.D., Co-Chair - Pink and Teal 2021

Dr. Theodoulou is recognized internationally for her breast cancer research. Prior to joining NYOH, she was an attending physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Professor of Medicine at the Joan and Sanford Weill Medical College of Cornell University, both in New York City. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine as well as Medical Oncology.

Dr. Theodoulou is the recipient of five prestigious awards including the Leading Physicians of the World Top Breast Medical Oncologist in N.Y 2019 and the Hally Yaccino Steiner Award - Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Greater New York City. Dr. Theodoulou received her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo with internships and residencies at North Shore University Hospital - Cornell University Medical College as well as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center together with a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at MSK.

William R. Keegan, Jr., is President, CEO of Innovative Medical Conferences, LLC. He is also President, CEO of Capital Formation Marketing, Inc, an international investor relation’s consortium of notable corporate executives.  He has over 30-years of experience in international investor relations, business media, sales, medical event planning and marketing, and management.  For four-years, Bill Keegan served as a registered investor relations agent of record for the Government of Bermuda.  He advised the Premier, Ministry of Business Development and Tourism, Minister of Health and the President of the Bermuda Stock Exchange to promote Bermuda’s international business outreach and help drive inward investment.  He developed conferences and business media related events for Bermuda at the New York Stock Exchange as well as in major markets such as Bahrain, London, Toronto, Middle East, Hong Kong and South Africa.  Bill’s four-year effort identified medical tourism and medical conferences as a key high net worth growth sector for Bermuda.  Like Bermuda’s insurance and financial industries, the mission - is not to just open a new hotel and promote tourism - but establish a new high net worth industry which will create jobs and help the country’s economy thrive.

As President, CEO of Innovative Medical Conferences, LLC - Bill Keegan, along with Dr. Francis Arena, recently produced the very successful Pink Conference On Breast Cancer.  The conference consisted of a public forum at Hamilton City Hall, where leading doctors from Harvard, Weill Cornell, NYU Langone, Sloan Kettering and North Shore LIJ met with hundreds of Bermuda women to discuss the treatment and prevention of breast cancer.  The attending doctors also participated in an accredited continual medical educational course (CME) at the King Edward Memorial Hospital.  Bill Keegan together with IMC’s team of doctors were awarded the prestigious Bermuda International Citizenship Award for producing one of the finest medical conferences ever produced in Bermuda.   IMC also produces exclusive limited attendance medical seminars on the treatment, prevention and breakthroughs in cancer.  These critically acclaimed conferences are held at the University of Pennsylvania / Penn Club of New York, which Bill Keegan is a member of good standing.
